With over 45 years of estate agency experience between both London and here in Northumberland, Laura and I have worked in a competitive environment during the highs and lows of the housing market since the late 90s.

I started my career in London, swiftly progressing to senior management level at both regional and national level. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have worked with & developed some award-winning agents over the years, most recently in my last employed post, playing a key role in the mentoring, coaching and training of like-minded business owners across the country, who have gone on to build successful relationship focussed businesses for themselves.

Laura started her career here in 1999, managing and valuing within a number of the local estate agency firms before taking a sabbatical. That year out turned into ten and after a spell in the Caribbean, she moved to London in 2013 where we first met. There, she worked for one of the largest independent agents in the capital where she swiftly become recognized both as the top negotiator and valuer across this business during her 4 years there. Laura then carved out a successful stint as a self-employed property consultant in partnership, with what was at the time, the most dominant name in the UK property industry. There, she had managing oversight of one of South London’s largest territories, successfully building a referral & recommendation-based business.

Why Bedlington and surrounding areas?

We moved back to Bedlington in search of a safer, more suitable environment to raise our daughter Ava and we felt Bedlington also offered an exciting opportunity for us to follow our dreams and apply our passion for helping people with their property needs, by running our own relationship focussed business.

Laura went to school here, our daughter now goes to school here, we socialise regularly within the local restaurants & pubs, whilst making full use of the public parks and woodland walks that we are incredibly fortunate to have on our doorstep. The beach also being a 10-minute drive away doesn’t hurt either. We even got engaged in the Lairds House Hotel on Bedlington Front Street!

We know and love the area (that’s why we have moved back). We genuinely wanted to become key members of this tight knit community and continue to do everything we can to help it thrive.

What makes us different.

We take the stress out of moving by offering a personal service that focusses on the needs & wants of our clients. We believe that selling your home should be an enjoyable experience. Whether we’re offering move advice or just having a friendly chat, we want to be there for you round the clock. Our proactive approach is proven to get results, as we swiftly built our reputation and following to become the most successful selling agent within 18 months of our launch as well as comfortably establishing ourselves as the most recommended property couple in the area. Both titles that we’ll will work tirelessly to protect.

Running our own business puts us in a position to take full responsibility for every decision made, thus enabling us to deliver a truly bespoke service.

Our vendors benefit from our experience and skill when pricing their home. We work together with them on a tailored marketing strategy to suit each individual homeowner and their property.

Start to finish, we take full responsibility, meaning from the moment you appoint us, every detail is carefully handled. From showcasing & exposing your home to the largest audiences, to negotiating the best sales price, we manage the entire legal process, through to the point where we hand the keys to the excited new owners – all supported exclusively by Laura and myself. An experience you just won’t find anywhere else.

What’s the motivation?

We are obsessed about property! We believe in a better, more relationship focussed style of estate agency. It’s been in our blood for the majority of our working lives and the fact we get to help people with such an important event in their lives while doing something we love fuels our drive and determination on a daily basis. Putting a smile on the face of our home movers means the world to us!

Our Goal.

To become the most recommended property advisors in Northumberland.

Our Team

The leader of the business. The most passionate property person you’re likely to meet, who will stop at nothing to ensure the best possible outcome for all involved. With almost 20 years industry experience, starting at the bottom as a trainee negotiator, working up through the ranks to senior management, before holding director level positions on a national scale. Post Covid, he left the London property market with wife Laura to launch Harpers (partnered with eXp) in the Summer of 2021 with the aim of improving the experience people have when they move home in the North East.
Fiercely competitive, incredibly driven, obsessive about results and overwhelmingly passionate about the success of the business along with the footprint it leaves on the community, whilst working closely with the team to evolve and improve the business at every opportunity.

Ali’s secret weapon is honesty. He’ll only you offer you honest advice based on what he truly believes.

Still the best estate agent that Ali knows. The steady hand of the operation and the back bone of the business. With decades of industry experience, initially here in the North East, before a ten-year spell in the London property market as an award-winning property consultant (where she met Ali) before returning to her home town of Bedlington to establish Harpers with Ali, in the hope of changing the face of the industry for the better locally.
Laura is the one that people turn to for help and support throughout the sales process – once the offer is accepted, she captains the ship.
Hugely caring, very patient, clinical attention to detail, tells it how it is and she’ll chat for hours if you give her half a chance.

Dawn comes fully equipped with a wealth of experience in sales & customer service. Before joining the family at Harpers Property People, Dawn’s most recent role saw her working as a sales negotiator & property valuer for a well-respected estate agent in Morpeth covering various parts of the region. Dawn was born & bred in Northumberland giving her an extensive knowledge of the area which she shares without hesitation with all of her home movers. Dawn joins the team with a passion to grow our reach across Ashington, Newbiggin-By-The-Sea & beyond. You can count on her to go the extra mile in order to help people achieve their move goals, whether your plan is to buy or sell, she’ll strive to make your move as stress free as possible with her kind, caring positive attitude that shines through.

Emma has been a Blyth resident since moving here with her family aged 11, attending both Blyth & Bedlington schools.

At the age of eighteen, Emma jumped straight into the property industry from school, never looking back since. Emma’s experience in both the new & resale sectors of the property market means she’s very well placed to put her knowledge & expertise to good use when supporting the move goals of those within her community.
The passion and enthusiasm that Emma brings to her business is invaluable to us here at Harpers and it’s what sets us apart from the competition.

Emma leads her business with a refreshing honesty, that when partnered with her hunger to help people move, means that she constantly seeks out opportunities to advise & help anyone with a property related need.

As you’ll find out soon enough, Emma loves a chat and will always be on hand to listen, even if it’s not property related. (if you’re going to talk dogs though, put the kettle on & bring biscuits) but all jokes aside, you are in very safe hands if you’re planning your move with Emma.

Personally speaking, Emma is married with 2 children aged 14 & 10, she has lovely 3 dogs that rule her household and when she’s not selling homes, Emma enjoys getting out and about into the wilds of Northumberland.

Becoming Blyth’s most recommended property person is at the root of everything Emma does and will be doing with the support of the Harpers brand. "

Hi, my name is Aiden and I’m a freelance photographer based in Northumberland, specialising in real estate photography. I’ve been a photographer for five years and before that, I was a marketing advisor for a national estate agency group. In this role I learned the importance of showcasing every home in its best light to entice as many prospective buyers as possible. I pride myself on providing a high level of customer service to alleviate any stress during the process of creating the marketing details and will work with homeowners to highlight the unique selling points that they love about their home.

The wizard who brings the magic to our property brochures & adverts. He’s the nicest guy you’ll meet and our sellers love him. Like, genuinely love him!

The decades of experience gained in high end retail management helps fuel Mary’s natural ability to offer an exceptional level of customer service in everything she does.
Mary takes on the responsibility of the back room administrative support to Ali and the team of property professionals at the coal face.
If you are fortunate enough to talk on the phone with her, you’ll probably realise that her Scottish accent gives away the fact she is in fact Ali’s mum. This does of course mean that she has first-hand knowledge of just how important exacting standards are to him within the business.
